Wen Ze (onyomi Bun Soku) was a general of Gongsun Zan who fought against Yuan Shao, and is numbered among the officers captured or killed at Yijing. He is absent from the novel.

In Dynasty Warriors 7: Xtreme Legends, Wen Ze joins Fan Fang attacking Yuan Shao's eastern flank at Jieqiao.
In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Wen Ze first appears in the fourteenth installment. As in history, Ze serves under Gongsun Zan, appearing in any scenario where Gongsun Zan still exists as a warlord. His stats are mediocre and middling at best, with 59 leadership, 53 war, 32 intelligence, 35 politics, and 47 charm. His is knowledgable in using the whale wave tactic and he has a small bonus to policies for wall expansions.
Historical Information
Wen Ze's only historical mention was during the Battle of Yijing. In 199, as the siege of Yijing dragged on and turned against Gongsun Zan's favour, he sent Wen Ze to meet up with Gongsun Xu and Zhang Yan, who were outside of Yijing gathering reinforcements. Ze was captured while transporting this letter by Yuan Shao's army. Yuan Shao would go on to use the information from the letter to trick Zan's reinforcements and finish him off in one swift stroke. During the ambush, Wen Ze either surrendered, was slain, or managed to escape.
