Takamoto Mōri was the son of Mōri Motonari and the elder brother of Kikkawa Motoharu and Kobayakawa Takakage. Was known as the father of Mōri Terumoto.
He placed forty-third in the Nobunaga no Yabou Taishi poll for most favorite father and placed in one hundred-six in Nobunaga no Yabou 201X poll for 4-star officers.

Samurai Warriors
In Samurai Warriors Chronicles, he joins the battle at Itsukushima as a playable character despite wielding a generic appearance, he worries about the large numbers of the Sue army. Motonari tells him to defend Miyao castle as Motonari and the player sneak around the shrines in order to liaise with the Murakami navy and ambush Harukata Sue when he tries to make his escape. His role in Samurai Warriors 4 remains much the same, though his model is slightly unique this time around, except he isn't playable outside of Chronicle Mode. In the story, he is tipped as Motonari's successor during the events and aftermath of Itsukushima but in the long time skip before the second Mori battle of Aga, he is stated to pass away before he could inherit the clan from Motonari, having both Motonari and Takakage lament his early death.
Mōri Motonari: Chikai no Sanshi
Has him act as son of Motonari but he was go to Suo Province to be adoptive son of Ōuchi Yoshitaka for make the good relations. In chapter 6, during the Amago army invade Yoshida-Koriyama Castle, he request Sue Harukata who was his senior to request the reinforcements. Harukata agree his request and Harukata lead the army to aid Mōri and crush the Amago army from the back. During the retreat from Gassantoda in chapter 7, he and his father was survived from the sacrifice of Watanabe Kayō.
When returned to his homeland, he married Lady Ozaki who was the daughter of Naitō Okimori. In chapter 10, He got lost while hunting. While he was looking for a way, he met Ekei. Ekei takes him to Ankokuji Temple and talks to increase the relationship. After the victory at Itsukushima, he join to destroy Ōuchi and he stationed at Suo Province to prevent the invade from Ōtomo. Later he negotiated with Tachibana Dōsetsu and he headed for the subjugation of Amago territory.
In chapter 16, he was poisoned from the peasants, believed that the peasants was the spy from Amago. When he saw that he could not survive, then order Ekei to take care of Terumoto who was his beloved son. From his death, make Motonari and everyone swear that will take revenge the Amago.
In chapter 17, he appear as the cameo, when Motonari talk to Terumoto.

Historical Information
The eldest son of Mōri Motonari and Myōkyū. In 1537, he was sent as hostage of Ōuchi Yoshitaka and he was educated in Yamaguchi, there have the story that he is very close to Sue Harukata.
In 1540 to 1543, he join the battle at Yoshida-Koriyama Castle and battle of Gassantoda Castle. In 1549, he was married Lady Ozaki from the negotiate between Mōri and Naitō. In 1550, he was one of the people who had received order from his father, to kill Inoue Motokane and his family.
After Sue Harukata rebel against Ōuchi Yoshitaka at Tainei-ji Temple, Takamoto knows the cruelty of Sue, he so spreading news of Ōuchi Yoshitaka's death throughout the hometown and neighboring regions, to hope that the people resist Sue. In 1555, he join battle at Itsukushima and join to assault Ōuchi Yoshinaga in 1557.
In 1559, he and his father met Emperor Ōgimachi and they donate to the Imperial Court. In 1560, he received the rank as protector of Aki Province from Ashikaga Yoshiteru and he was received the rank as Daizen-Taifu (大膳大夫) from the Emperor.
In 1562, he received the rank as protector of Bitchū, Bingo and Nagato Province. In 1563, he was the rank as protector of Suo Province. In the september of the same year, he was poisoned and died at the age 40. From the death of Takamoto, make Motonari causing suspicion of Akagawa Motoyasu and Wachi Masaharu who were vassals of Takamoto. So, Akagawa was executed in March, 1567 and Wachi was executed in February, 1569.
In 1908, Takamoto was retroactively appointed as the third rank noble (正三位) by Emperor Meiji.
Etymology
- The name Takamoto means "noble, prosperous" (隆) (taka) and "beginning, former time, origin" (元) (moto).
- Takamoto's surname Mōri means "hair, fur" (毛) (mō) and "benefit, advantage" (利) (ri).
