Ambushing the Uesugi forces
Masatoyo Naitō is one of Shingen's Four Guardian Kings. Praised as an inseparable entity for his lord's conquests, he reportedly committed no error while on duty. He is among the many famous Takeda vassals who loses his life during the Battle of Nagashino.
His Nobunaga's Ambition counterpart is ninety-seventh place in Gamecity's character popularity ranking for 2015.
Role in Games
For the Samurai Warriors series, Masatoyo is usually beside Shingen in earlier Takeda campaigns and present at Nagashino under Katsuyori's command. During Yukimura's scenario in the first game, he may be saved by the player. If the mission to save him is incomplete, he perishes in battle. In Samurai Warriors 3, he tries to go around the center but is stopped and killed by Kanbei and others. During Spirit of Sanada, Masatoyo follows his historical exploits under Shingen during the battles at Kawanakajima against the Uesugi, at Suruga against the Imagawa and against the Tokugawa at Mikatagahara. During the Nagashino campaign, however, Masatoyo would be taken by surprise by Nobunaga's musketeers at Shitaragahara and is the first of many Takeda commanders to be gunned down.
In Musou OROCHI Z, Masatoyo acts as Shingen's replacement officer when players assume the latter's role in one of the original dream stages.
