Sakai Tanyatsugu in Samurai Cats
-
Alternate portrait
Tadatsugu Sakai is one of the Four Heavenly Kings of Tokugawa. He advised Ieyasu to leave the Imagawa in favor of the Oda clan. At Nagashino, he proposed a surprise attack on Tobigasu garrison to guarantee victory. He also performed a dance to seal an alliance with the Hojo.
Role in Games
Tadatsugu appears mostly alongside the Four Tokugawa Guardians in the Samurai Warriors series. In the first game, he is the Tokugawa officer who appears the most, where he first appears at Okehazama. At Anegawa, he is seen as Ieyasu's sub-officer. At Mikatagahara, he is part of the Crane formation that must be protected by Hanzō. During the Iga Crossing, Hanzo must escort Tadatsugu to meet up with Ieyasu. On Ranmaru's version of Anegawa, Tadatsugu will be part of the Anti-Oda forces for the Tokugawa and Akechi.
In the expansion, Tadatsugu's role is expanded at Komaki-Nagakute where he and Yasumasa Sakakibara join the battle late when playing as the Tokugawa army, or being the guardian in charge of Mt.Komaki during the Hashiba version of the battle. During Yoshimoto's version of the stage, he can be slain along with the other guardians.
On the second game, at Nagashino, Yukimura will be given a mission to defeat him, Ieyasu and Yasumasa Sakakibara. On the 1585 siege of Ueda Castle, Tadatsugu will send reinforcements to the disadvaantaged center only to be washed away by Toishi Castle's flood attack.
During Keiji's Tournament of Champions, Tadatsugu is stationed with Yasumasa in the central garrison. For Tadakatsu's Tournament of Champions, he along with the other Guardians must hold the garrisons without being overwhelmed. On the stage Nobunaga Unites Japan, he and his cohorts try to capture Kiyosu Castle from the Oda. For Shingen's version of Nagashino, he must protect Tobigasu garrison against Tadatsugu and Mitsuhide.
In Kessen, his son Ietsugu replaces him as a Guardian having died prior to the game. However, Kessen III has him fight for Motoyasu Matsudaira.
In Chikai no Sanshi, he play the role of Tokugawa's general and fought against Mōri army in Sekigahara and Gifu Castle.
