Sadamasa Okudaira

Sadamasa Okudaira is a Tokugawa retainer who was kept as a hostage in the Takeda before returning to his master. He is remembered in history for defending Nagashino Castle which kick-started the Battle of Nagashino. Nobunaga rewarded his efforts by allowing Sadamasa to adopt "Nobu" for his name, an honor ordinarily reserved for family.

Role in Games

The Samurai Warriors series often features him guarding Nagashino Castle, the main escape point for Katsuyori's retreat. His importance for the guard fluctuates with each title. The second and fourth main installments stress that his protection/elimination is vital for the campaign's success and to protect ally morale. In Samurai Warriors: Xtreme Legends has him at appear Komaki-Nagakute and the Samurai Warriors 3 has him fight at Ueda Castle and Sekigahara.

In Warriors Orochi, he appears infrequently under the Tokugawa banner and their affiliates. He is one of the officers defending Sun Ce's escape at Xiakou in the first title, with him also arriving at Sekigahara as part of a reinforcement troops to Sun Ce in the Wu story mode. In the second title, he defends Edo Castle alongside his lord's retainers and presumably joins the demon army alongside his lord. In Warriors Orochi 3, he helps defend Yangping Gate.

Historical information

Originally, he was a retainer of Tokugawa who joined with Shingen. When Takeda Katsuyori succeed lead the Takeda, he and his men out of Tsukude castle and rejoined the Tokugawa. Later he took part in Battle of Nagashino and got received reward from Ieyasu is can marry with his eldest daugther, Kamehime. In 1590, he was given a fief in Miyazaki in Kōzuke Province. When Ieyasu became Shōgun, he so served as the first Kyōto Shoshidai .
