Nagatomo Fukami was a vassal of the Sagara clan during the Sengoku Period. His other names are Sōhō (宗方) and Kyūho (休甫).
Role in Games
In most Koei games, often he was one of the vassals of the Sagara clan. He appeared in Nobunaga's Ambition, Taikō Risshiden and Samurai Warriors. He is one of the less prominent characters in a large clan circle. But for the Sagara clan, he was one of the indispensable courtiers.

Historical Information
He was the eldest son of Fukami Yorikane (深水頼金) and was the elder brother of Fukami Oribe-no-suke (深水織部介). He is well versed in Waka and Renga poetry. Served Sagara Haruhiro in the first, when Haruhiro died, he served Yoshihi. There is an anecdote that, in 1572, when the consort of Yoshihi had difficulty in giving birth to their child. He provided a verse to wish her a safe delivery.
After Yoshihi was killed in action against Aso clan. He and Indō Yoriyasu has support Yoshihi's eldest son, Tadafusa to lead the clan but Sagara Yorisada who is Yoshihi's younger brother has revolt. Nagatomo want to restore relations with the Shimazu clan, he has therefore written 10,000 volumes of chants to pray relieve the ill of Shimazu Yoshihisa.
During the Kyūshū Campaign, he negotiated with Toyotomi Hideyoshi by begging the safety of Sagara clan. In which Hideyoshi heard his poetry ability, Hideyoshi appointed him as magistrate of Minamata city in Kumamoto province.
During the Higo Rebellion, an error has occurred in the Toyotomi army. When Sassa Narimasa gave a wrong order, causing the troops to almost fight each other. As for Sagara Yorifusa, has the mistake in organizing troops at the Tsunagi Castle and Sashiki Castle. Nagatomo then went to Ōsaka to ask Hideyoshi to forgive them all for this mistake. Which Hideyoshi forgive in this.
Nagatomo died in the age 58. his nephew, Fukami Yorikura was succeed to him.
