Michiyoshi Kuchiba is a vassal of the Mōri clan. He is Motoharu Kikkawa's assistant in Izumo Province. When Terumoto Mōri became head of the Mōri clan, Michiyoshi was one of the four main officers who helped administer their lands.
The Nobunaga no Yabou 201X poll for 3-star officers puts him in one hundred forty-first place.
Role in Games
In Samurai Warriors 3, Michiyoshi fights at the battle of Kozuki castle, attempting to push northeast. Kiyomasa Katō will attempt to defeat him to reach Terumoto Mōri. In Samurai Warriors 4: Empires has him serving as a strategist under the Mōri clan.
In Mouri Motonari: Chikai no Sanshi, he participates for the first time in helping Motonari to suppress Aiō Mototsuna and destroy the Aki-Takeda. Later, he led the army to fight against the enemy in San'in region and helping Terumoto in attacking Tokugawa at Gifu Castle.

Historical Information
Kuchiba Michiyoshi was the son of Shiji Motoyoshi and the younger brother of Shiji Hiroyoshi. However, the age gap between himself and his brother was significant, enough to confuse his origins as Hiroyoshi's son, instead of Motoyoshi. He originally carried his family name, but changed it to Kuchiba after receiving Kuchiba village and its neighboring castle for his services to the Mōri.
In 1534, he help to make the relations between Mōri and Yamaguchi Naomichi who has the bad relation with Amago. In 1557, he was succeed after Shiji Hiroyoshi was died. In 1562, he exchanged the written pledges, with Kijima Kiyoyuki (来嶋清行) who was the senior retainer of Akana Morikiyo. In 1570, he and Kikkawa Motoharu provided their credentials in the form of a document evidencing their participation and contributions in battle, known as Gunchūjō (軍忠状).
In the reign of Terumoto, he has become one of Mōri's highest secretaries, working with Kobayakawa Takakage , Kikkawa Motoharu and Fukuhara Sadatoshi to administer their five provinces. His second son, Haruyoshi was succeed him after his death at the age 69.
Etymology
- The name Michiyoshi means "through, connoisseur, counter for letters" (通) (michi) and "good, virtuous, respectable" (良) (yoshi).
- Michiyoshi's surname Kuchiba means "mouth wings" (口羽).
