Showtaro Morikubo

From Koei Tecmo Wiki

Showtaro Morikubo is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer. He is the representative director of his own agency Add9th. He married Yuu Asakawa in 2007, though the two of them got divorced 2 years afterwards. His current wife is someone outside the entertainment industry; their union resulted in a daughter.

Upon completing high school, Morikubo enrolled in Tama Art University only to drop out. While working part-time as a gas station attendant, his talent agency told him he was selected to perform a voice-over role in Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! despite having no experience in the field. The director chose him specifically because of his potential and was proven right when the show boomed in popularity. This led to Morikubo transferring to an agency that specializes in voice acting roles.

For Morikubo's singing career, he and Hideo Ishikawa established music units together before the former went solo in 2001 with his single The Answer. At present, he is signed under the Lantis label.

Morikubo's success earned him plenty of awards, some of which include the Kei Tomiyama Memorial Award and the Personality Award during the 10th and 14th Seiyu Awards respectively. He is close friends with fellow voice actor Kentarō Itō; their friendship is why Morikubo is in charge of handling stage music for the latter's performing arts company K-Show. He also works as a radio host, being responsible for content on the Bay FM station.

Morikubo often gets assigned tough or antagonistic characters due to his strong vocal qualities. He is quite popular with female fans for both his roles and attractive appearance. Throughout his voice acting career, he has voiced Soji Okita in the Hakuoki series, Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4, and Tetta Kisaki in Tokyo Revengers.
