Yuriko Mori (森 由里子, Mori Yuriko, born October 23 in Tokyo) is a Japanese lyricist. Her real name is Yuriko Mutoh (武藤 由里子, Mutō Yuriko). She became aware of her musical talent while receiving piano lessons during her childhood. Her studies tapered during middle school but Mori kept her interest alive as a hobby.
When she attended Ferris University, Mori chose to focus on creating lyrics instead. According to her own account, she wishes to empower the composers' feelings for any genre with "a warm voice" and "a meaningful message" that everyone can understand. Her compositions often include wordplays which are difficult to translate into English without losing connotations.
She made her debut into the entertainment industry in 1986 by creating the lyrics for the Dragon Ball opening song, Makafushigi Adventure!. Since then, she has written over 1,000 songs for every section of the Japanese entertainment industry. A few other examples of her work include the Hakuoki character image songs, a selection of THE IDOLM@STER songs, and Hoshi wo Sagashite. Outside of her contract work, Mori privately supports non-profit organizations for promoting mental health awareness. She is a member of the "Japanese Healing Movement" band, The SEIRIOS.
As an audience member of Sengoku Musou Seiyuu Ougi 2014 Spring 10th Anniversary, she was thrilled to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Mori remarked that even though she authored the words, she teared up during Takeshi Kusao's live performance for Seimei no Taka.
