Kiyotsuna Akao

Kiyotsuna Akao is one of the three generals of the Azai alongside Kaihō Tsunachika and Amenomori Kiyosada.

The Nobunaga no Yabou 201X poll for 3-star officers puts him in eighty-nine place.

Role in Games

In Samurai Warriors 2, he tries to prevent Tokugawa Ieyasu's attack but fails. In Samurai Warriors 4, he perishes under Ina's attack along with Asakura Yoshikage.

In Oda Nobunaga Den, he is one of the generals of Azai that encourages his master to fight against Nobunaga.

In Nobunaga's Ambition, he is one of the elders who has experience serving Azai Hisamasa.

Historical Information

Kiyotsuna's childhood name was Magosaburō (孫三郎). He used to serve Kyōgoku Takakiyo and Kyōgoku Takanobu. Later he joined Azai Sukemasa and became one of three generals of Azai. He held the title Mimasaka no Kami (美作守) during the reign of Azai Hisamasa. He firmly stood in favour of keeping the alliance with Asakura and fought at the battle of Anegawa. When Odani Castle was conquered by the Oda army, he tried to escape but was captured and executed. Nobunaga showed mercy to Kiyotsuna's son, Kiyofuyu, and spared his life.
