Eitoku Kanō (狩野 永徳, Kanō Eitoku) was a Japanese painter who lived during the Sengoku period and one of the most prominent patriarchs of the Kanō school of Japanese painting.

Role in Games

In Nobunaga's Ambition : Lord of Darkness, he will appear sometimes and aims to present artwork with player.

In addition, he was appear in Toukiden and appear in Samurai Cats.

Historical Information

Kanō Eitoku (February 16, 1543 – October 12, 1590) was a grandson of Kanō Motonobu. He was recognized for his artistic talent at a very young age under his grandfather's guidance. When he grows up, he was a painter with Nobunaga and Hideyoshi as patrons. His works such as standing screen, sliding door, wall, and ceiling paintings was decorated in Azuchi Castle, Hideyoshi's residence in Kyoto and Osaka Castle. Contemporary accounts indicate that Eitoku was one of the most wanted artists of that time and have patrons as many powerful and wealthy people. Nevertheless, Eitoku died at the age of 47 years because he works too much until the occurrence of illness. After his death, his three sons tried to continue the work in order for the influence to continue.
