Chikanaga Sekiguchi is a vassal of Imagawa and the father of Sena. He headed the Sekiguchi clan to ensure the clan's survival. Despite his loyalty, Ujizane Imagawa ordered him to commit seppuku for being Ieyasu's father-in-law.
Role in Games
In Samurai Warriors 4, apposes the Oda forces outside of Zenshōji garrison, along the path that Nobunaga Oda has decided to sneak along to ambush Yoshimoto Imagawa.
In Nobunaga's Ambition and Taikō Risshiden, he is often known as Sekiguchi Ujihiro (関口氏広).
Historical Information
Chikanaga was a second son of Sena Ujisada. In 1525, when Sekiguchi clan became leaderless, Chikanaga was made Sekiguchi Ujiroku's heir and appointed as a new head of the clan. He moved to Suruga province and entered into the service of the Imagawa somewhere around 1531.
Chikanaga sent his daughter to Imagawa Yoshimoto as a guest/hostage. In 1557, his daughter was married to Matsudaira Motoyasu, thus making Chikanaga father-in-law of Motoyasu. The marriage was meant to tie the Matsudaira clan closer to the Imagawa clan, thanks to Chikanaga's relation to the Imagawa.
After Yoshimoto's death at Okehazama, Chikanaga remained loyal to Yoshimoto's son, Imagawa Ujizane. However, Motoyasu chose that moment to declare independence, becoming a rival to Ujizane. Suspected of supporting his son-in-law, Ujizane ordered Chikanaga to commit suicide in 1562.
