Here is a collection of Zhurong's weapons in the Warriors series.
Weapons
Dynasty Warriors 3
Fourth Weapon Acquisition
- Hard or Very Hard Difficulty
- Stage: Nanman Campaign (Nanman Forces; Original Scenario)
- Precious Item Location: Just southwest of the very southwestern bridge (north of the southern central entry point), on top of a hill via the southern bank.
- Requirement: Have Ahui Nan and Dong Tu Ne both decide to retreat from the battlefield.
Strategy and notes
This event happens on its own in roughly 15 minutes of the stage starting regardless of their morale.
While you can decide to wait and do nothing if you like, it's wise to simply clear out the center of the map in the meantime to cut down as much of the enemy morale as possible to ensure both Dong Tune (actually Dong Tuna) and Ahui Nan survive.
Ma Chao is a recommended target to tackle, since Ahui Nan is positioned at the southwest of the circular path around the southeastern river bend of the map, and Ma Chao and Zhang Yi might likely cut through the allies along the path which will eventually lead to Ahui Nan being in danger.
Meanwhile, Dong Tuna is positioned across the southern river around the center west of the map, just starting out on the north bank. Li Hui and Zhang Bao will likely be gunning for him and without an elephant to break down the walls, you'll have to take a lot of long routes around, thus a high level Speed Scroll is recommended for your item load-out.
After you do manage to save them from the enemy officers moving down towards them, you can tackle the rest of the stage however you like until both Ahui Nan and Dong Tuna retreat. Cutting down any extra enemy officers to keep piling on morale will help everyone else in the long run and may make your advance onto Zhuge Liang's camp a lot easier.
Zhurong's moveset is honestly not that good in this game, despite having a decent C4/fourth charge attack for crowd-clearing. If in a 1 v 1 however without much interference, you can simply stagger loop her 3rd normal attack string input into itself. Be sure to also pack the aforementioned Speed Scroll, a high-level Nanman Armor, Tortoise Amulet and maybe even a Way of the Musou.
Zhurong's True Musou Attack should at least be more worthwhile to use for free for the overall fire damage, but like her C6, be wary of other units body-blocking the darts/knives as they can't pierce through units. Due to the fact she also moves forward per knife throw, Zhurong might accidentally move under her targets when trying to juggle them with her True Musou Attack, or the victim(s) will just fall through the volleys.
If you like, you can simply exploit the player 1 stat scaling with 2 players, and thus with an undeveloped player 1, player 2 can simply clear away the map with ease. Getting around the map due to the walls blocking a ton of routes is still an issue however.

Fifth Weapon Acquisition
- Very Hard Difficulty
- Stage: Siege of He Fei Castle (Zhu Rong's Forces; Xtreme Legends Scenario)
- Precious Item Location: Just east of the wind/tornado trap corridor (next to a wall and an empty crate).
- Requirement: Defeat all primary leader officers except Lu Bu (Zhou Yu, Xiao Qiao, Diao Chan, Zhen Ji and Cao Pi) to trigger Meng Huo and Zhu Rong's unique dialogue.
Strategy and notes
The item box location is the same as Sima Yi's 5th weapon, but is just against a wall next to an empty crate. The cutscene triggered with Meng Huo is not part of the requirements.
This weapon can be a bit difficult to get due to needing to defeat everyone else on time, especially Zhou Yu, Xiao Qiao and Diaochan within 10 minutes of the stage starting. Hefei New Castle regardless of the scenario, is of course, an infamous late-game stage.
Since Zhurong starts at the castle palace area, she can't use a horse to move around as well since the only way down from the upper levels + wall is down a flight of stairs each in the southwest and southeast (you'd be forced to abandon it just to jump off the said upper level). A high-level Speed Scroll is heavily recommended, not to mention her 4th weapon at least covers both base and bow defense decently well which frees up her item slots.
A high-level Huang's Bow is also recommended since Zhou Yu just southeast of the central palace + moat is easily exposed to arrow sniping. Be wary of wasting your ammunition however, especially with all of his peons surrounding him. Then best head down south to target the remaining main generals (save for Lü Bu) of course. Zhenji/Zhen Luo is your likely target next right after Zhou Yu. Be wary of Xiaoqiao's C6/sixth charge being laced with Death element, even though she might rarely use it and there's another chance she might not aim it properly.
Do be wary in the meantime however, the enemy reinforcements that will arrive at some point from the very southern ship. Diaochan also sticks close to Lü Bu as well, so be very careful of being double-teamed by them.
Zhurong at least with her C5 can juggle enemy officers with gradual fire damage, though again, her kit overall isn't that good even with her 4th weapon. If needed, you can abuse the player 1 stat scaling trick with 2 players, especially if you decided to have Zhurong be player 1 which via her default starting position, allows her to be parked safely away while a high-powered character chosen as player 2 can do everything on their own.
And when it comes time to confront Lü Bu, it's wise to intermission save after collecting the weapon to turn down the difficulty.
BY ALL MEANS, DO NOT MOVE ONTO THE CENTRAL POND'S GAZEBO! The infamous archer ambush will spell both a nasty morale rise for the enemy AND the player 1 stat scaling also insures your allies will be torn apart by arrows their own defense stats have not properly been scaled for.
Dynasty Warriors 4
Level 10 Weapon Acquisition (base game's scenarios)
- Hard or Expert Difficulty
- Stage: Battle of Xu Chang (Nanman Forces)
- Requirements: Fulfill the following:
- Defeat Cao Zhang, Cao Hong, Man Chong, and Xiahou Dun.
- Protect the siege ramp/cloud ladder until it deploys at the southwest wall of Xu Chang Castle.
Strategy and notes
The requirements can be fulfilled in any order as you wish. Cao Hong and Cao Zhang in particular though, are sub-officers respectively under Xiahou Dun and Xu Zhu/Chu; both Xu Chu and Cao Zhang appear after Sima Yi orders their ambush upon the rear depot (Dalai Dongzhu's position) just after the cloud ladder appears (happens when Wutugu reaches narrow path the Man Chong is blocking).
Thankfully, you can choose to open any of the castle gates and the cloud ladder will still appear, which means you can choose to defeat Xiahou Dun ASAP when you've already taken out Cao Hong.
While it seems a bit disadvantageous to start down the south as Zhurong without a head-start towards any of the vital spots, there's a least a solid strategy to consider:
- 1. Head down the to Wuru Gates' north and south gates to deal with Cao Zhen and Cao Xiu. This can not only open up the gates to help the southern units on their way to Xuchang's southeast gates, but also to ease up some morale.
- 2. Immediately rush towards Cao Hong's position from the southern paths either towards the west or east) next to the entry point, sealing both the entry point nearby and defeating him as well, then you can defeat Xiahou Dun to open up the gate he guards as well as nuke his peons' morale and prevent them from being a threat to the cloud ladder when it appears.
- You can choose to also at some point between the first and second step, to defeat Hu Zhi (who's sub-officer under Cao Pi) to nuke his morale by one star and also open the gate he guards.
- 3. After that, you can then rush back to the southwestern depot to engage Cao Zhang and Xu Chu right away as soon as they appear while leaving the cloud ladder on its own. DO NOT DEFEAT XU CHU FIRST!
- This is due to the fact that Man Chong will likely be slipped through and the cloud ladder will be deployed anyway. Xu Chu and Cao Zhang when they appear will make quick work of Dalai Dongzhu's army due to their huge morale, and you might need to save as much of his army as possible to deal with Jia Kui's eventual raid.
- Be also very wary of Xiahou Dun having to challenge you to a duel before you've defeated Cao Hong. While you can choose to refuse, morale will plummet for your entire army depending on your rank points, and defeating Xiahou Dun in said duel will cause Cao Hong to retreat. Thankfully, you have enough arrows to snipe Cao Hong from outside of the entry point as he'll always retreat towards the one just close by. Be sure to clear away as much enemies around you as possible before getting ready to snipe him. Even if playing on the expansion with smarter AI, Cao Hong's defense is not high enough to guard against your charge attack arrows.
Afterwards, you can approach the stage however you like, but the main problem with this stage is how easily beaten around your allies are due to the huge morale lopsides, in spite of how decently you maxed out Zhurong's stats. Thus, it's wise NOT to play this stage on Expert unless you want a bigger challenge where everyone will die a lot faster. Both the cloud ladder's route being littered with enemies and the raid on the rear depot by Xu Chu + Cao Zhang are prime examples of how the morale difference will make either target crumble under their high.
Zhurong herself however, has been buffed quite a bit on her moveset, with better swinging arcs on her 4th-to-6th normal attack string inputs, and being able to safely stagger loop her 3rd and 4th normal string inputs in a 1 v 1. Her C3/third charge is also a rather solid Charge Rush provided you connect with it properly, but the finisher is a bit slow to maintain during juggles. C6 however, is a solid guard bypass tool if you're close enough to your victims, enabling you to hit them from behind.
Maxed out Fire, Lightning, Blast or Poison are solid recommendations alongside the usual layout of maxed Tiger, Tortoise, Herbal and/or maybe Peacock. You can also choose to use Wind Scroll too if you like. However, if playing on the expansion, you'll have to sacrifice to make room for Power Rune. Though if playing just only on Hard, Zhurong so long as you don't try getting this weapon on Musou Mode, can easily take hits with ease if you've maxed out her base defense.
The other main issue is the cloud ladder. Depending on the AI of Wutugu's unit and his peons, they may end up nudging down the narrow path where the cloud ladder appears and cause its appears to trigger earlier than expected. This alone can likely present problems even if you decided to leave Man Chong alone.
Jia Kui's assault is also something you need to prepare for at the later stretch of the stage, including Sima Yi's minefield trap which while having no effect on you, the player, is programmed to wipe out most of your allies and their troops (thus you might have to avoid the western section of Xuchang for as long as you can). The other difficult thing is being able to respond on time to the said assault if you've left your horse behind, since you can't enter Xuchang with it.
Worse off, Sima Zhao (one of Sima Yi's sub-officers) if he happens to engage your allies trying to climb up the cloud ladder, will likely single-handedly hold off everyone due to Sima Yi's overall unit morale likely reaching 8 stars max before everyone else.
Other than all that, take the stage at your possible leisure if you've managed to fulfill the requirements and by proxy, foil Sima Yi's 2 initial ploys. Be wary of Cao Cao being in Hyper Mode at the end though.
Level 10 Weapon Acquisition (Xtreme Legends Legend Mode)
- Hard or Expert Difficulty
- Stage: Rescue of Meng Huo
- Restrictions: No items and no bodyguards
- Requirement: Reach towards near Zhuge Liang's position without being discovered by any enemy patrols or Zhao Yun's unit (except for Wang Ping's army and his entry point gate captain unit) within 4 minutes of the stage starting.
Strategy and notes
As it's a Legend Mode stage that disables items, MAX OUT ZHURONG'S BASE STATS FIRST.
While a bit daunting, it can be doable on Hard Mode at least. Wang Ping discovering you at the start of the stage does not matter, nor is defeating him part of the requirements. However, you still cannot ignore his messenger. Getting discovered by gate captains also does not count against the requirements either.
First you can choose to deal directly with Wang Ping as his cluster of peons do not matter, but immediately watch for the messenger that exits out of the entry point so you can deal with him right away. If you have to chase the messenger, be sure to use Zhurong's jump attack and not her dash attack since its hitbox is somehow very poor in front of her and only covers her sides effectively. However, a full normal attack string is just enough to kill the messenger cleanly in one combo if you've managed to pin him down.
Note that the patrol guards will start their patrol routes as soon as you move towards the east enough. If you've left Wang Ping alive, he'll chase you down throughout the stage, but he will not alert any patrol guards he passes by and only focuses on chasing you down throughout.
As for the patrols:
- Each one upon seeing you, will then trigger an ambush unit. Even if you've killed a patrol in the middle of their dialogue, said ambush will still trigger.
- However, an exception is if you're lucky enough to one-shot a patrol guard with say, an arrow shot with a high amount of bow attack on a Level 11 weapon. Then the guard will not have any dialogue or trigger whatsoever.
- Once an ambush does trigger however, a messenger is then spawned in (each ambush has one) to then report to the nearest patrol guard to trigger their ambushes as well.
- Patrols within past the fences northwards towards the main camp have ambushes that trigger the appearance of playable Shu generals, that being Ma Chao, Huang Zhong and Wei Yan. However, those 3 WILL NOT enter Hyper Mode.
- Meanwhile, while Zhao Yun resides blocking the second western entryway, getting discovered by him will not trigger any messengers nor ambushes to appear, though he'll enter Hyper Mode and chase you down throughout the stage like everyone else.
- If you do reach Zhuge Liang upon being discovered by anyone, he'll have his special dialogue where you've walked into his hands and trigger extra ambush units around the base area.
The best route to get to Zhuge Liang covertly is:
- 1. At the start, head up to the northern mountain edge, with the patrol on the south moving north and the patrol in the north moving west. Following the east-moving patrol's path carefully so that the northern-moving one doesn't catch you, but don't move too close to the initial set of fences to avoid the nearby northern patrol just beyond it who will move west.
- However, if you've triggered the north-moving patrol too soon, you can simply instead rush to the mountain edge north of the very southern entry point to let them slip by first. Or simply follow being the patrol starting from the south to then slip eastward when the chance presents itself.
- 2. Afterwards, you can then head up north to the eastern entryways of the layered fences as the next set of patrol guards start their patrol routes. Thus you are able to avoid Zhao Yun who resides blocking the second western entryway.
- 3. Upon reaching the set of patrols beyond the second layer of fences via moving through the second eastern entryway, one patrol guard will move west while the other patrol will move south (towards the entryway you just came through); move just near enough the eastern mountain edge so you can then slip through them and head through or north of the tent base westward and reach Zhuge Liang with ease. The peons up above are just part of the entry point unit.
Once you do reach Zhuge Liang, his dialogue of being surprised at the patrols all being bypassed will occur, and he'll choose to deal with you himself. The Level 10 weapon message will then drop and you'll have to fight against Zhuge Liang's unit with Guan Suo and Guan Xing as his backup, and Zhuge Liang is in Hyper Mode himself. However, YOU CAN STILL GET DISCOVERED BY PATROL GUARDS AFTER THIS POINT! (Avoid hiding within the tent base area for too long.)
You can choose to fight away from Zhuge Liang and deal with most of his peons and both Guan Xing and Guan Suo as his sub-officers who also will not be in Hyper Mode. Not to mention there's also plenty of Elite Guards that can help drop plenty of healing items once you do defeat them. While it's fine after getting the weapon message to trigger the patrols discovering you and/or Zhao Yun detecting you, it might end up making the stage much harder for you in the long run to finish without dying quickly.
Thankfully, Zhurong has a decent parry counter, and if you can frequently read the enemy AI's attacks, you can at least keep dealing gradual safe damage that clears crowds. In a 1 v 1, her normal attack string's 3rd and 4th inputs can be stagger-looped into each other, and her C6 at close range can easily hit enemies from behind if they get too block-happy (even if you can't equip items to enhance your guard-breaking power).
Be aware that Zhuge Liang himself has his infamous unblockable staggering C3, as well as his Musou Attack. Though it's also possible to punish him for attempting to use his jump charge as it will not render on screen properly unlike the player's version, and he can then be punished upon landing. However, both you and Zhuge Liang have non-physical Musou Attacks, meaning the two of you are not at risk of clashing via a deadlock when you both execute them.
If needed, don't be afraid to turn down the difficulty after you intermission save upon getting the weapon message to then safely finish the stage.
Note: There's a free +10 Musou Up (Yu Ji) Wine at the west nook just next to Zhuge Liang's position.

Level 11 Weapon Acquisition
- Expert Difficulty
- Stage: Rescue of Meng Huo
- Restrictions: No items and no bodyguards
- Requirement: Reach towards near Zhuge Liang's position without being discovered by any enemy patrols or Zhao Yun's unit (except for Wang Ping's army and his entry point gate captain unit) within 4 minutes of the stage starting.
Strategy and notes
Once more stressed, MAX OUT ZHURONG'S BASE STATS FIRST BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS WEAPON!
The exact same requirements and strategy for the Level 10 weapon, and again, Wang Ping and his group of peons at the very start do not count towards the requirements, nor does defeating Wang Ping either. Do remember that like before, he'll chase you down if you've left him alone. And again, it is also fine if you're discovered by gate captains.
Do be aware that because you're playing on Expert Mode, enemies will hit harder. Zhuge Liang also on top of already being in Hyper Mode, now wields his Level 10 weapon by default, meaning he'll be able to proc Blast attribute on most of his charge attacks. C3-to-C6 will hit ESPECIALLY hard while likely either chipping your HP on block or become unblockable if Zhuge Liang has empowered himself with a x2 Attack Up. He'll also become dangerous when he's at low HP since he'll have access to his True Musou Attack which can proc Blast element throughout. His C1 is also tricky to avoid when he's a fair distance away from if you can't parry through it with invul frames or jump over it on time.
But again, his aggro range isn't that big, so you can just run away from him safely to get some breathing room, even though you can't really continue sniping him with arrows. Once you've at least caught him in a 1 v 1, you can stagger-loop him with Zhurong's 3rd or 4th normal attack string input or hit him from behind with a point-blank C6 if you need to nab some cheeky damage on him. Don't forget about the abundance of Elite Guards to kill for easy healing item drops.
Don't be afraid to either intermission save to turn down the difficulty upon getting the weapon message, or just rely on the AI glitch for the entirety of the stage. Again, even after you've gotten the weapon and with it being fine to trigger the ambushes or Zhao Yun's detection, you might end up making things harder for yourself when trying to finish off Zhuge Liang safely and effectively.
