Base Game
Xu Shu is affiliated with the sword and hook in this title. When equipped with it, Xu Shu can perform the following unique attacks listed below.
- EX Attack: : Rushes forward at a short distance to rapidly slice foes with multiple round slashes to the front, ending the assault with a turning inward cut imbued with lightning.
- Musou Attack - Flashbang (閃撃; lit. "Flash Assault"): : Performs a series of quick running slashes that cut through enemies in the blink of an eye, gradually juggling them in the air before they get knocked away.
- Aerial Musou Attack - Falling Thunder (落耀; lit. "Dropping Spark"): : Charges sword with electrical energy, then tosses hook to the ground in a forward tumbling somersault. Electricity then travels from the rope to the hook which immediately produces a pillar of lightning upon coming in contact with the earth.
- Officer Skills
- Fame Type: Wise
- Subordinate Special Command 1 - Slander: Advises a ruler with a very high friendship rating to banish an officer from their service. Increases wise fame by 1,500 and evil fame by 1,000 when used.
- Subordinate Special Command 2 - Alienate: Creates distrust between the ruler of another kingdom and its officers. Increases wise fame by 3,000 when used. Also available as a special command for rulers.

- Domestic Bonus: +10 to Technology
- Battle Bonus: +7 to Attack
- Best Formation 1 - Snake Formation: 3 to 5 Units, Defense Type
- Best Formation 2 - Radial Formation: 1 to 5 Units, Balanced Type
- Best Formation 3 - Crescent Formation: 3 to 5 Units, Offense Type
- Support Skill - Contingency Measures (反計の策): Halves the enemy army's achievement duration.
Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate
Xu Shu retains his weapon moveset from Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires albeit with some changes and additions.
- Team Abilities
- Ability 1 - Thrift: Reduces the amount of Musou used up for all team members.
- Ability 2 - Speed: Increases abilities of Speed-type warriors.
- Special Attacks
- Musou Attack: : Xu Shu performs Flashbang as their ground Musou attack.
- Counter Attack: Counter + L1 + : Quickly swats away an enemy's attack, causing them to stagger briefly.
- Assist Attack: Counter + L1 or R1: Xu Shu performs the fourth charge attack to assist a teammate while surrounded within an updraft of wind for extra coverage.
- Grounded Type Action: R1: Steps forward and performs a hand signal that unleashes a volley of arrows raining down on foes in front of Xu Shu. Despite being a weaker version of his Hidden Surprise Musou attack from the eighth game, the arrows themselves will remain in place even after Xu Shu moves freely to another area, making it useful for providing coverage support.
- Midair Type Action: R1: Performs a downward thrust to hook enemies from the ground and lifts them up with a scooping strike. Xu Shu then finishes up with a barrage of horizontal reaping swipes done back and forth.
- Aerial Thrust: : Does an aerial spin to extend own jumping length while evading enemies below.
- Normal Strategy Card: Strategist's Dignity (軍師の矜持; lit. "Strategist's Pride"): Conjures five lightning bolts that repeatedly rain down on the spot where the user had activated the card. Continuously hits the ground twenty times in a row, making it invaluable for trapping foes or hindering them from pursuing the player.
- Golden Strategy Card: Improve and Learn (磨かれし知; lit. "Polished Wisdom"): Reduces both officers' attack power for a brief moment.
- Team Attacks
- Triple Rush 1: Lands a quick swing that sends out a mobile shockwave at the same time.
- Triple Rush 2: Twirls hook in a looping pattern several times.
- Triple Rush 3: Does a wide slash that unleashes a massive energy wave down on the earth.
- Unique Triple Rush: If Xu Shu is teamed up with Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong, he will be able to do a unique triple rush attack with them. He starts off the assault by diving down from the air and launching foes with his hook attached to the ground, leaving him crouching as Zhuge Liang begins his turn.
