Tower

The Tower, also called the Ark, is an imposing structure that serves as the main setting of Quantum Theory. It rose up from a Lost Age wasteland a few years ago, bringing with it the Erosion that renders nearby settlements uninhabitable. The building itself is guarded by an intricate defense mechanism that automatically attempts to eliminate intruders with bullets and lasers. The door itself is impervious to damage, only responding to brute force perpetuated by Gillskins.

Inside the Tower are elaborate hallways that lead to different areas, many of which contain numerous experimental grounds. Among those grounds is a garden filled with unusual plants not seen in the outside world. Other rooms produce and store Nosferatu for security purposes. At the top is the Seed which serves as the Tower's brain; the room it happens to be in is also full of Maiden Nosferatu kept in stasis until needed.

Equipped with an advanced AI, it can control mass-produced Nosferatu via voice command and detect foreign objects due to the purifying effects of the lumenosynthetic reactors. Destroying the reactors opens up more areas that may or may not be infected by the Granulas flying about. As the story progresses, the upper levels of the Tower become infested with Diablosis to the point that the AI is unable to stop any mutations from transpiring.

Development

According to the developers, the Tower's interior was designed to have an art nouveau feel to pique the tastes of Japanese gamers at the time as opposed to the war-like settings that appeal more to Western players.
