Takaie Shishido was known to be one of the 18 generals of Mōri. He is the son-in-law of Motonari.
Role in Games
In Samurai Warriors 3, he is responsible for the defense of the main base in Kizugawa, not to be attacked by the Oda army.
In Chikai no Sanshi, he was a officer who served his uncle, Shishido Motoyoshi. In chapter 5, he acts as reinforcement of the enemy. If the player brings the Motonari to close to Takaie, Takaie will agree to join you.
Historical Information
He was a owner of Goryū Castle in Aki province, In the beginning, he used the name Motoie (元家), but later he received a new name is Takaie from Ōuchi Yoshitaka. Later he joined the Mōri clan and he was join unifed the Chūgoku land along with Kikkawa Motoharu and Kobayakawa Takakage. With the merit that he has worked hard, Motonari decided to get him to marry his daughter, Goryū no Tsubone.
Later, he clashed against the Utsunomiya army in Iyo province and became a senior aristocrat in the reign of Mōri Terumoto. He died at the age of 73. His son, Motohide and his grandson, Mototsugu took over from him.
Etymology
- The name Takaie means "noble, prosperous" (隆) (taka) and "house, home, family, residence/residency, building, dwelling, habitation" (家) (ie).
- Takaie's surname Shishido means "muscles, meat" (宍) (shishi) and "door" (戸) (to/do).
