Munenobu Akiage

Munenobu Akiage (秋上 宗信, Akiage Munenobu) was known another name as Akiage Hisaie (秋上 久家) and Akiage Iorisuke (秋上 伊織助). He was a vassal of Amago clan and became one of Amago Ten Braves along with Yamanaka Yukimori, Yokomichi Hidetsuna and Ueda Sanaesuke.

Chikai no Sanshi

His role is to be one of the survivors of the second battle at Gassantoda. When Amago Katsuhisa announced the remaining loyalties, Akiage and his friends joined Katsuhisa at Fubeyama Castle. Akiage was appointed to be the commander of the lancer general unit. While the Mōri army attacked the castle, Iorisuke fought the enemy fully but couldn't fight, so he fled hide. He later joined Yamanaka in the Battle of Kōzuki Castle but was killed by Mōri's veterans.

He also appears in Nobunaga no Yabou Haouden, Taiko Risshiden IV and Taiko Risshiden V.

Historical Information

His first historical information was recorded in 1563, when Mōri army invade Shiraga Castle. He and his father, Tsunehira tried to protect the castle but failed. He therefore joined Tachihara Hisatsuna attacking Sukihara Morishige at Odaka Castle but failure. He later played a role in the battle at Gassantoda Castle, by preventing the Kikkawa Motoharu's attack in 1566 and coordinating with Yamanaka to fight against Amano Takashige in 1569.

In March 1571, he and Hagura Magobei trying to attack Yonago Castle and Odaka Castle but failure and Hagura was killed. In May in the same year, Akiage was convince by Nomura Moroyoshi to surrender to Mōri Terumoto. Akiage decided to surrender. It is said that Amago Katsuhisa did not keep his promise to use Akiage like using Yamanaka. Akiage was last recorded that died from illness in Aki Province. Later, a Toyotomi's warlord named Kamei Koremori said that Akiage's tomb was located at Kōsei-ji Temple in Tottori Province.

Etymology

  • The name Munenobu means "religion, sect, denomination, main point, origin, essence" (宗) (mune) and "trust, believe" (信) (nobu).
  • Munenobu's surname Akiage means "autumn" (秋) (aki) and "above, top, upper" (上) (age).
