The purpose of this guide is to assist editors who wish to recover their Fandom account on this new version of the Koei Tecmo Wiki. While the migration process copies an existing user's edit history, watchlist, and personal info from the old wiki, it does not carry over their current password due to security reasons. As such, it is impossible to log into old account unless users go through the following steps below in order to reclaim it.
How to Reclaim Account
- Users must first log into their original account at the old Koei Tecmo Wiki in Fandom.
- Go to Special:BotPasswords and create a bot account with the exact same username you're currently using in Fandom.
- Give it the following rights: basic rights (should be activated by default), view your watchlist (carries over your current watchlist), and access private information (enables the account to verify your email).
- Upon doing this, you will receive an account name and a password string. The account name should be your old username followed by @login.
- Return to the new Koei Tecmo Wiki and go to Special:UserLogin.
- Use the username and password given to you after having made the bot account.
- Once you log in, you will be prompted to change your password for the new wiki. Completing this last step means you have successfully reclaimed your old account.
Troubleshooting
- The account migration procedure only applies to users who have existing accounts in the old wiki. If you happen to be new to wiki editing, you will have to create a new account here instead.
- In the event that you cannot remember your Fandom account password, you will need to reset it before creating a BotPassword. To begin the password reset process, go here and enter your Fandom username. This will automatically send an email with a link to reset your password to the email address associated with your account.
- If you have any issues not mentioned here, feel free to notify the administrator in their talk page as soon as possible.
