Koei-Cash

From Koei Tecmo Wiki

Koei-Cash (コーエーキャッシュ) was a prepaid electronic currency exclusively used for making online purchases in GAMECITY. It served as an alternative to credit cards and only required typing in a password. Individuals with GAMECITY citizen accounts could only gain access to the service.

Many users were drawn to Koei-Cash because it had no required fees for opening and maintaining accounts. One could add real money to the service in increments of either ¥500, ¥1,000, ¥3,000, or ¥5,000 as many times as they wanted. Each account had a balance limit of ¥50,000.

For security reasons, Koei-Cash utilized the Digicoin System implemented by Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS as well as digital signatures certified by SECOM Trust Systems. Despite its advantages, the currency did not affect point redemptions for members of Koei Fan Club and Koei Card.

On September 9, 2020, GAMECITY ended service for Koei-Cash and refunded customers who had been using it until December 9.
