Johnny Yong Bosch

From Koei Tecmo Wiki

Johnny Yong Bosch is an American voice actor based in California. Most of his work is done in various studios throughout Los Angeles, though he has been known to record shows for Funimation at Dallas. He is married with one daughter and one son. He is the best known voice actor as Ichigo Kurosaki in Bleach and Hajime Hinata in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

He spent most of his formative years in Garland, Texas. Having experienced ridicule and discrimination because of his mixed heritage (his father was an American soldier and his mother came from South Korea), Bosch coped by fostering a strong interest in stunt performers like Bruce Lee and martial arts in general.

To improve himself, he diligently practiced kung fu and eventually became an actual martial artist in his own right. He went on to participate in numerous martial arts competitions and later won the role of Adam Park in the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. At the time, he had changed his middle name to Yong at Saban's request. He has since kept the moniker for his voice acting career.

Bosch is the vocalist of his own underground rock band called Eyeshine. Founded in 2004, the band produced over 13 albums and has toured throughout various countries like Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and Brazil.

While Bosch's voice is often lent to protagonists, he personally prefers doing anti-hero roles. The hardest thing he ever did as a voice actor was pulling off a higher-pitched performance as Renton Thurston in Eureka Seven. While the experienced strained his vocal pitch, it helped him prepare for more similar roles. Some of the characters he has voiced include Artemis in Sailor Moon, Makoto Tachibana in Free!, and Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.
