Hello Kitty (ハローキティ) is one of the major mascot characters of Sanrio, a Japanese gift, stationary and confectionery manufacturing company. Although originally created to market towards girls, her design has been adapted to appeal to people of all genders and ages. Her image has been placed onto Sanrio merchandise since a year after her debut in the mid 1970s. The most iconic version of her character is Kitty White (キティ・ホワイト), an anthropomorphic white cat.
