Sword

Samurai Warriors

Ground Moveset

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): The Edit Character crouch with his/her sword down, then he/she slashes upwards, downwards, spin a little and cast a blade of energy with one final slash.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Throws the enemies in the air, follow them while slicing multiple times at them and finally throw them back to the ground with a downward slash, causing a shockwave.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Makes two upward slashes on each side before unleashing a strong forward slash.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): After hitting the enemy three times, start slashing repeatedly in a zig-zagging motion.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: The character slashes the enemies several times in a row, concluding with a thrust attack.
X, Square: Lands a diagonal strike from the air.
X, Triangle: Stabs the sword into the ground, producing a shockwave to damage foes.
Circle: Violently slashes the enemies while advancing, adding fire damage in the process.

Mounted Moveset

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: Performs two slashes, the first to either stun enemies, or break their guard. The second generating an energy effect that performs multiple slashes in a span of a few seconds.
Square/Triangle, X: User charges forward with the the tip of the sword pointed directly in front of them.
Special Skill: Increase attack power and attack speed, but decrees defense.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): User pulls sword their side, then swings their sword forward with all their might, creating a large energy slash.

Sengoku Musou 4

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou. Killing Blow (Tate) is the same as Deadlock Attack.

Fighting Style

The sword move set is a fairly balanced move set. It deals equal parts direct attacking damage, good for one-on-one fights, as well as having several sweeping and spinning attacks to deal with multiple enemies at once.

Spear

Ground Moveset

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): The Edit Character spins his/her spear in front of her like a propeller for four times, before dealing an horizontal swipe.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Knocks the enemy up with the blunt end of the spear, then pierce them several times while airborne with the tip before sending them up once more and performing a fast and deadly dash with the spear.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): After hitting twice, performs a upward swipe and concludes by thrusting the spear in the ground, causing a shockwave.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): After hitting the enemies three times the character charge the attack in a crouched pose, ending in a wide circular swipe that sends the enemy flying. The more the button is pressed, the stronger the attack will be.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Attacks several times with a series of up and down attacks.
X, Square: Does a swipe from midair.
X, Triangle: Jumps towards the ground hitting it with the spear, causing a shockwave.
Circle: Male characters will perform a series of thrusts immediately followed by a swipe, while Female characters will just thrust quickly.

Mounted Moveset

Square, Triangle: A quick upward strike with the blunt end of the spear.
Square, Square, Triangle: A sweeping forward strike with the blade of the spear.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: A powerful sweeping backwards strike with the body of the spear.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Swings spear forward and back three times, then begins swinging straight up and down with powerful strikes.
Circle:

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: User thrusts spear forward, piercing an opponent on the blade of the spear. User then tosses opponent up into the air while they are lodged onto the spear, flinging them off the blade, then user proceeds to stab at them multiple times while their in the air.
Square/Triangle, X: User charges forward with the spear pointing directly in front of them.
Special Skill: Summons an aura around the user that initially damages enemies when first summoned. While glowing the wielder can damage enemies just by touching into them, and gains more Musou than usual with each attack.
Circle: The user thrusts the blade forward and then spins around to perform a sweeping attack with the blade. They repeat this action multiple times before striking a pose, surrounded by a glowing aura that pushes enemies away.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): User spins the spear over head a few moments, before pulling back, then thrusting forward, generating an energy blade that charges through foes directly infront of the user.

Sengoku Musou 4

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou. Killing Blow (Tate) is the same as Deadlock Attack.

Circle Finisher change: Jumps up into the air and then throws spear towards the ground, creating an eruption of earth and magma to damage enemies.

Fighting Style

The spear moveset is focused on attacking enemies with strong, but narrow, attacks. It is good for fighting one-on-one, but not very effective against crowds. If one is surrounded by many enemies, use the shadow step ability to escape. The Musou attack can deal damage to groups, so if shadow step is not viable, use it to clear the area instead.

Naginata

Ground Moveset

Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): The Edit Character crouch, then hits the enemies with the end of the naginata, following with two wide sweeps that knocks the enemies back.
Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Throws the enemies in the air and hit them twice using sideways slashes.
Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Slice the enemies with sideways sweeps from right to left and vice versa.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle), (Triangle): Slice the enemies to the left, charge a little and perform a rotating sweep ending in a powerful slash capable of sending enemies flying.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: The edit Character unleashes a series of diagonal slashes with the naginata culminating in a powerful slash to push the enemies back..
X, Square: A sideways strike from the air.
X, Triangle: Stabs the naginata in the ground making a little shockwave.
Circle: Attacks with wide, circular slashes.

Mounted Moveset

Square, Triangle: User performs a forward sweeping attack.
Square, Square, Triangle: User performs a wider forward sweeping attack.
Square, Square, Square, Triangle: User performs a wide sweeping attack from the front towards the back.
Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Square: Swings naginata forward and back three times, then performs a series powerful thrust attacks.
Circle:

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle: User swings naginata directly in front of them at a vertical angle, said attack is capable of breaking enemy guard if they are doing so. User then thrusts forward once, said thrust summoning a small wall of energy blades that continuously stab enemies for a few seconds.
Square/Triangle, X: User charges forward via ramming their left shoulders, along with the weapons blunt end, into their enemies.
Special Skill: Grant surrounding allies a random buff that grants Attack x2, Defense x2, or Speed x2. Also helps refill users Musou slightly when successful in buffing ones allies.
Circle (Ultimate/Kaiden): Spins Naginata overhead to generate a spiral of energy, made from various blues, to damage opponents.

Sengoku Musou 4

Weapon is updated with special abilities as well as a new Musou. Killing Blow (Tate) is the same as Deadlock Attack.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle, (Triangle), (Triangle): The user swings the naginata in front of them, aiming vertically. This attack can break the enemy's defense if they have one. Then, the user thrusts forward once, followed by a slash to the left, an upward slash to the right, and finally a downward slash to the left.

Fighting Style

The Naginata is great for handling crowds as it has many sweeping attacks in both its regular and charged attacks. Its primarily a move set that's good at keeping opponents away from you, and as of Samurai Warriors 3, great for enhancing the skills of your allies around you. That being said it isn't the strongest weapon, so players should take caution when using it. It is an effective weapon for those who take things at slow and steady paces, while providing support to their allies.
