Daisuke Sakaguchi is a Japanese voice actor. He is currently married with children. An advent fan of anime and geek culture, his primary goal for becoming a voice actor was to one day appear in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. Much to his surprise, he was cast as the protagonist of an alternate continuity mere months after his debut. Sakaguchi considers himself extremely lucky to have pursued his career.
Today, he is known by Japanese fans for his passionate shouting roles. His popular reputation for acting as the straight man in a franchise was exemplified with his performance as Shinpachi Shimura in Gintama. Sakaguchi is quite fond of his character in the show and has even "cosplayed" as Shinpachi in anime conventions simply by wearing glasses. A few of his other roles include Satoshi Fukube in Hyouka, Tadayasu Souemon Sawaki in Moyasimon: Tales of Agriculture, and Suou in Battle Spirits: Sword Eyes.
Sakaguchi professes to be a history fan partly due to Koei's historical simulations and particularly likes the Sengoku Jidai and the Bakumatsu. He feels overwhelmed when talking about the subject matter, as his listeners can sometimes get too enthusiastic for him. Before his role as Zhang Bao, Sakaguchi enjoyed the fans' exuberant reactions for voice actors during the Samurai Warriors stage events and remarked that he would someday like to voice a Warriors character. Sakaguchi is a MC of the anime and game variety program, Denjin☆Gacha!. During the Toukiden Kiwami live gameplay presentation, his player avatar was named "Daisuke" (だいすけ). He especially likes the Uesugi so he was disappointed when neither his real name or avatar ID could generate a Uesugi Mitama result.
