Kazuya Nakai (中井 和哉, Nakai Kazuya, born November 25, 1967) is a Japanese voice actor and narrator who is affiliated with Aoni Production. He was born in Kobe, Hyogo Prefecture and is married to a wife and has a child. Though known for playing rough characters, Nakai is a timid and happy-go-lucky individual who dotes on his family. He tends to like keeping dogs as pets, but he did adopt a stray kitten while walking his dog and named it "Ku-chan". Apparently, he really likes visiting the Disneyland Resorts with his family. His hobbies include driving, surveying, and archery. Nakai has been invited to several live events but he usually doesn't attend them since he is shy in front of crowds.

Anime and game fans know him for voicing several sword wielding characters such as Toushirou Hijikata from Gintama, Mugen from Samurai Champloo, and Masamune Date from Sengoku Basara. Ironically, Nakai has expressed a personal phobia of sharp objects and wouldn't feel comfortable holding a sword. For this reason, he feels pretty alienated from these roles. He does associate with their philosophy "to live life as it comes" at least.
