Overview
Shin Sangokumusou 5: Special will be released on October 2, 2008 on the PlayStation 2 in Japan and November 18 in North America. There is not yet any information on whether or not the game will be released in Europe.
Game Changes
Musou Modes
Not much info is known about the game at the current time, but a musou mode for Ma Chao, Yue Ying, Cao Pi, Zhang He, Taishi Ci, and Ling Tong will be added, and the six characters will receive new weapons and movesets.
Weapons
Weapons changes are as follows:
- Ma Chao from a Spear to a Great Sword (similar to Fu Xi's in Warriors Orochi 2)
- Cao Pi will go from a Shortsword to a Longsword
- Zhang He from a spear back to his pair of Claws
- Taishi Ci from a spear back to his pair of rods
- Ling Tong from a halberd to a three section staff (or a sanjiegun)
- Yue Ying from a longbow to a 'Bladed Bow' (an original weapon inspired by the Repeating crossbow, it fires flaming projectiles and contains an extending stationary blade)
Stages
According to new screenshots released and press releases, there will be 5 new stages included in Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS2). The 5 new stages have been confirmed as Jiang Dong, He Bei, Tong Gate, Ru Xu Kou, and Jie Ting.
Downgrading from Next Gen
Becuase Dynasty Warriors 6: Special is being downgraded, Koei has opted to remove the ability to swim; a new feature added to the series in the current gen editions. This is most likely because of the porting to a last generation console. Also the game will receive downgraded graphics from the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. To compensate though, the previous changes have been made.
- As a side note, Dynasty Warriors 6: Special will be 2 discs.
