| Also a proficient singer with experience in bands, Taniyama and Masaaki Iizuka formed a music partnership that resulted in a two-man music unit called GRANRODEO. Under the stage name "Kishow", he serves as the group's lyricist and lead vocalist. He also received an award for best musical performance at the 6th Seiyu Awards.

| Taniyama jokingly calls himself the fastest voice actor alive due to his excellent running record since middle school. His interests are anime, novels, biking, and watching basketball games. He was formerly a smoker before quitting in 2014.
