Saihai no Yukue reference

Is it worth noting that Yoshitsugu's weapon in the SW series is the weapon of choice of Mitsunaris from Saihai no Yukue? Also mirroring this, in Saihai no Yukue Yoshitsugu is shown in his artwork holding a folding fan, Mitsunaris weapon of choice in the Warriors series. I think this was done intentionally to reference the two's friendship.

No. The developers haven't said as much and I don't believe it was supposed to be a direct reference. For starters, Saihai Mitsunari never actually fights in Saihai no Yukue; he uses his saihai in the same way Phoenix Wright uses his index finger: for dramatic pointing and shouting. Similarly, Saihai Yoshitsugu uses his folding fan as most Jidaigeki characters would: for theatrical pointing and snapping it shut as a form of silent scorn. He has it in his hands as a stereotype for refinement, kinda like how a classic film noir movie uses bar scenes/smoking/drinking/moody lighting to establish atmosphere somewhere.
