For reasons known to him, he gave up his life as a bandit to save the common man.

Development
Tachiki played his role as a "wild old guy" so he struggled when his character strayed from this perceived image. He enjoyed the warm-hearted or comedic banter Yangus has with other characters.
Personality
Despite his wild appearance, he is a good-mannered fellow with a virtuous heart.
