Tetsuya Kakihara is a Japanese voice actor. After being a freelancer in 2013, he formed his own talent agency Zynchro one year later. As a singer, he has been a part of the music label Kiramune since 2010.
While still living in Germany with his family, Kakihara decided he wanted to move to Japan due to his fascination with their entertainment culture, particularly variety shows and anime; he often imitated whatever his favorite characters would say during his childhood years. In 2001, he enrolled in the Amusement Media Academy and supported himself through part-time jobs. He also improved his Japanese in language school which tremendously helped him graduate in 2003. Kakihara eventually won best rookie in the 1st Seiyu Awards for his role as Mikoto Yutaka in Princess Princess.
Both anime and manga were often a constant influence in Kakihara's formative years. He became an avid collector of manga after visiting Japan several times, having once shipped 300 books to his home in Germany. His favorite series is JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
Kakihara usually lends his voice to youthful characters who are either passionate or timid. At times, he may even speak in his native German for certain roles. He is credited for voicing Prompto Argentum in Final Fantasy XV, Akihito Takaba in Finder series, and Liliadent Krauser in The Prince of Tennis.
