Takeshi Aono was a Japanese voice actor. He joined a local troupe and performed in several plays, one of which was a rendition of A Streetcar Named Desire.
His health deteriorated when he suffered a stroke shortly after being diagnosed with an aortic dissection. Although Aono had suspended his voice acting activities to recover, he eventually succumbed to multiple cerebral infarctions.
Aono was often assigned to portray older male characters due to his astringent vocal pitch. A few of his roles included Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, King Piccolo in Dragon Ball, and Colonel Roy Campbell in the Metal Gear Solid series. He also served as the official dub voice of Michael Palin.
