Pocket Scenario Series: Harukanaru Toki no Naka de Maihitoyo (ポケットシナリオシリーズ 遙かなる時空の中で 舞一夜) is a part of the Maihitoyo project. The main appeal of this port is to create a story using effects, music, and visuals from its PS2 cousin and the movie.
The Priestess Treasure Box (Miko-tebako) edition includes a black Nintendo DS Lite pouch, nine character stickers, and the limited edition instruction manual for newcomers to the series.
Gameplay
Free story creation is limited to 1,000 pages (text bubbles) per person. While the protagonist is not seen in the game, the player can rename her to whatever they desire. Scenario creation has the following options available to players (from left to right in menu screen):
Name | Function | Notes |
---|---|---|
Character Input | Write introductions or character dialogue. Players write their Japanese characters manually onto the touch screen and the game lists an approximate equivalent through its digital character index. Select the desired character in the menu to record it into the story. | Archaic Chinese characters are not available. |
Background | Select background for current page. | Same options as the Clock-Calendar mode. |
Person 1 | Choose a character portrait for the current page. Every character portrait is available. | Options are limited to whoever appears in the PS2 port. |
Person 2 | Choose another character portrait for the current page. Every character portrait is available. | Allows two characters to be on the same page like the game. Appears on the right. |
Effect | Simulates rainfall, falling cherry blossoms, or an earthquake. | |
Transition | Add a white or black fade between pages. | |
Music | Choose background music current page. Songs can be previewed in the selection menu by pressing X. None option is available by default. | Nintendo equivalents are used for the PS2 sounds. |
Sound Effect | Designates a sound effect for current page. None option is available by default. | Recycles the Gameboy Advance sound effects. |
A new page can be instantly created by pressing X. This can also be done in the Start menu. Players can delete a page, randomize the settings, title their production, and/or end their creation session. Quitting the creation process opens the prompt to save their sessions's progress. The scenario selection screen allows players to read, edit, copy, delete, or lock a scenario's availability for editing or sending.
Fifteen unvoiced Ruby Party stories are initially available for the reader's enjoyment; these events have not been reproduced to another medium. None of these scenarios can be edited or erased by the player.
