Dynasty Warriors M (真・三國無双 M, Shin Sangoku Musou M) is a mobile game adaptation of Dynasty Warriors 9. It was initially released in Asian regions before being made available overseas.
A soft launch for the game was enacted in Southeast Asia before its global release in winter. It was initially planned for a worldwide release on December 31st, 2023 before being launched a month early.
Gameplay
Similar to Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed and Dynasty Warriors: Overlords, the player must lead a team of three characters into battle and achieve a given objective while defeating mobs of enemies. Characters gain access to different types of attacks that allow them to both deal damage and reposition themselves accordingly. Aside from regular hits, other moves in their arsenal include crowd-clearing combos, stun blows, launchers, special attacks, and evasive maneuvers. Each action has a cooldown time that needs to dissipate before they can be reused again. Musou attacks and aerial combos are also available.
Switching between different characters is essential in order to take advantage of an enemy officer's elemental weakness which happens to be based on the affinity system from the ninth title. However, this should be used carefully since cooldown is also imposed once a switch has been made. Some battles will have all three team members fighting together simultaneously while others force them to fight solo while being able to switch.
A feature unique to this game is tactics which allows a character to buff themselves in different ways to gain the upper hand. Each character has their own inherent tactic in addition to two slots for more general ones. Tactics can be strengthened with books of the same attribute and are acquired via gacha roulette. Characters are also acquired this way and have different ranks and categories like in Unleashed.
A character's rarity rank denotes how many times they can level up and become stronger. Upon acquiring multiple copies of the same character, they may be used as materials for ascension or retired in exchange for Tiger Emblems. Other means of strengthening characters include equipping them with weapons and armor or unlocking higher-ranked versions for minor stat buffs. A recent update enables UR characters to wield unique weapons from the original game.
Winning a battle yields rewards like money and items, though earning stars by achieving certain tasks can lead to even more prizes. The stronger a team's overall power is, the more likely they can finish a battle with relative ease. For further convenience, players may opt to turn on auto mode when playing through easier battles repeatedly. By progressing through the game, new features are gradually unlocked. More content is occasionally included through update patches.
The other main portion of the game involves building castle facilities to help further expand the player's military might and unlock useful features.
